Ding – Dong Sod Webworm is dead! (for now)

We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we have been chasing our tails for the last two months.

  • We are finally ready to start the Winterization, weed control is included and pre-emergent is available on request.
  • After the rain of the last few days we are seeing a lot of new Brown Patch, although unsightly this is not permanent damage, keep the sprinklers off, apply some compost to the damaged areas if you can and we will apply fungicide at your application if necessary. Do not be tempted to rake the areas as it does little good and can cause more damage.
  • The biggest challenges to lawns at this time of year are mower damage and weeds. Please see below for our 5 top tips to get your lawn through Winter.
  • We are already booking up in Spring for additional services, if you think you may want aeration, topdressing, sod or plugs please let us know so we add you to the schedule. There is no obligation and estimates will be provided.
5 Top Tips To Get You Through Winter
  1. Continue to mow regularly to help with weed control and to expose Sod Webworm to our historic Houston freezes (Cold = webworm death!)
  2. Don’t edge unless necessary, use of weedeaters just causes stress to the grass.
  3. No watering is required, please see below if you think you are an exception.
  4. Hand pull weeds if possible or call for additional weed treatments if necessary.
  5. Apply compost to damaged areas to promote quick recovery in Spring.
Meet our new Technician.

Some of you may have noticed a strange man walking around your lawn recently, we would like to formally introduce you to our new tech David.
David comes from Magnolia and his interests are playing drums with a local band, deep-sea fishing and hanging out with his family.
In his spare time he likes to send Katy pictures of weeds she can’t remember the name of!

Watering

  • Sprinklers should be off at this time.
  • There may be the odd exception but most lawns won’t need water now until next week. If you think you may be exceptional please contact us and we will let you know!
